Voice Carry Over (VCO)
Voice Carry-Over (VCO) allows deaf or hard-of-hearing users to speak directly to a hearing person. If you are a late-deafened person who has difficulty hearing over the phone, VCO is the perfect communication solution for you.
Dial 711 or 877-826-6607
TTY user dial the TTY number, 711 or 877-826-6607. A Relay Texas Communications Assistant will answer.
Type in the area code and telephone number you wish to call and type “GA” (Go Ahead.) The Communication Assistant (CA) dials the number and connects to the other party.

How Does VCO Work?
VCO (Voice Carry Over) helps people with hearing loss stay connected by letting them speak directly to the other caller while reading the responses on their phone or device. A relay operator types what the other person says, so the VCO user can follow the conversation in real time.
VCO user talks to voice user directly.
After VCO user says, "Go Ahead", it is voice user's turn to respond.
Relay operator types voice user's message. VCO user reads the message on the TTY or text display equipment.
